Food Science/Product Development (Co-op) – Fall Semester 2024 (July – December)


Position location: This position will be full time coming into the office in Needham, MA.

Position Timeframe: This will be a July – December internship/co-op.

This is a very exciting time for the consumables team at SharkNinja! We are looking for a passionate, motivated, curious Food Science or food engineer co-op or recent grad to join our team and help us to create a Ninja beverage business. What You Will Do & Learn:


Sitting on the Ninja Product Development team, this unique opportunity blends the role of Food Science and product management. We are looking for individuals that can leverage their Food Science background to help support the development process and validation of new innovative products while also stepping in execution side of bringing new innovation products to market. Working with both Ninja's Test Kitchen (NTK) and the Product Development teams, you will have the opportunity to help shape our ambitious product roadmap.


Responsibilities:


  • Partner with both Product Development and NTK team members to help with successful product launches and product roadmap development of new and disruptive products for both Domestic and International
  • Work with NTK's team of food scientists to develop and manage prototypes and product claims
  • Bring forward and brainstorm new ideas and/or new techniques for validating food performance both quantitatively and with sensory analysis
  • Work with external vendors and consultants to help manage iterations of formula and Product Development
  • Build and continuously track competitive landscapes. Conduct analysis to identify white space
  • Support the coordination, execution of consumer testing both internal and external to help validate iterations on Product Development
  • Support the coordination, execution of our stability samples and other technical testing on new production development. Help manage our internal R&D lab of materials and various testing.
  • Help with commercialization readiness including but not limited to:
    • Help to maintain our new Product Development database of various flavors and formulas
    • collaborating with Brand Marketing and Creative teams on updates to product packaging, instruction guides, and more
    • item (SKU) creation and accessory development for product launches
    • sample management for both consumer testing and sales efforts
    • Transform insights into action by leading analytical deep dives into large subsets of data and report out key high-level takeaways and recommended next steps

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in a Food Science degree program. 2024 grads encouraged to apply
  • Ideal candidate will have completed at least one prior internship or co-op in the food industry
  • Comfortable working with strong subsets of data. Highly analytical, organized, strong attention to detail, self-starter.
  • Energetic, outgoing verbally, a desire to learn, consumer empathy and open-mindedness, a positive "can-do" mindset
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong ability to flex priorities, approach to workstreams, and be able to think differently
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever changing, highly iterative environment
  • Highly collaborative team player with fantastic communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to seek out and ask the right questions and effectively time manage
  • Effectively time manage with a strong ability to manage consistent flex on priorities and deliver assignments on time
  • A desire to have FUN!
