We are seeking highly motivated and passionate graduate students who are eager to develop their clinical skills and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a counseling and social work intern with our organization, you will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced clinical supervisors, providing vital support to clients in our Community Clinic program at our Chicago location. This internship is exclusively available to students in the 2024-2025 internship year of a Master's level clinical program in social work, counseling, or psychology. As a counseling / social work intern, you will have the opportunity to play an integral role in the care and treatment of our patients and their families. Your responsibilities will include:
Provide individual and group counseling services to clients under the supervision of a licensed counselor or social worker
Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans
Participate in case conferences and other team meetings to discuss client progress
Attend and participate in supervision and training sessions
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records
Assist with administrative tasks as needed
Providing guidance, support, and direction to patients to help them achieve their goals and progress through the program.
Supporting individuals in addressing a wide range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance abuse.
Collaborating with outside providers to ensure continuity of care for patients and their families.
Providing individual support to patients as needed, and contributing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings.
Working on projects focused on program improvement and the overall growth and development of the organization.
Requirements
Education: Obtaining a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work, Counseling or a Psychology program.
Required Field: Must be currently enrolled in a Master's Level Counseling or Social Work Program.
Experience: Classes related or prior work experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in clinical therapies, DSM 5-TR diagnosing and assessment, crisis intervention, and treatment skills; and have strong clinical assessment skills preferred.
License: No license is required for the internship
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and boundaries with clients
This is an unpaid internship. This position will fulfill the student's requirement for a Clinical Internship
