Mission:*
Deliver industry leading product information and analysis: by skilled application of quality and reliability techniques, to help employees and customers make informed decisions, that enable Daktronics to provide world leading value.

The reliability and quality teams provide the test equipment and expertise to gathering data on new product designs, current production parts, and field reliability. This position focuses on both development and Failure Analysis of new microLED display technologies with opportunity to do Failure Analysis of existing products as time allows. Daktronics performs Failure Analysis of components from production, testing, and field returns for the purpose of providing critical knowledge inputs to the product development process to mitigate financial and safety related reliability risks.

Responsibilities:*

  • Perform Failure Analysis and provide analytical services in support of design, manufacturing, and field service.
  • Identify and document root cause of failure so that corrective actions can be initiated to prevent reoccurrence and to improve product quality/reliability.
  • Ability to train and guide other staff in Failure Analysis techniques and processes.
  • Provide clear and concise documentation of FA results and publish reports.
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise on advances and innovation in µLED, µIC, wafer level packaging, and flip chip interconnects.
  • Participate in packaging µLED roadmap development and execution.
  • Identify, benchmark, and select suitable materials and processes for µLED and µIC devices.
  • Develop and establish production controls and monitoring to quality control of µLED parts and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4-year bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Applied Physics, Optical Science, Applied Chemistry, or related fields.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience with hands-on Failure Analysis of electronics components; IC’s, caps, resistors, inductors, crystals, transformers, mechanical components, Circuit Boards LED’s, and varieties of packaging.
  • 5+ years of experience in wafer and flip chip Packaging Engineering and/or die level Failure Analysis.
  • Or a combined experience of 10+ years between Failure Analysis and Packaging Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of wafer level/flip-chip packaging methods, assembly process knowledge, qualification methods, SPC, and statistical analysis software.
  • Knowledge of wire-bonding, multi-chip module, CoB, and LED technologies a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experienced analytical and presentation skills.
  • Must have experience doing and interpreting IV curve tracing, cross-section, SEM/EDX, CSAM, µFTIR, and X-Ray.
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary interactions between packaging technology, chip package electrical design, thermal, mechanical performance, and reliability.
  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
