Job Summary
The School of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Faculty Research Assistant (Epidemiology) position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the School Head.
This position supports the wastewater surveillance program funded by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA). The Faculty Research Assistant will support the routine collection and analysis of wastewater from utilities throughout Oregon. The Faculty Research Assistant will be responsible for posting wastewater surveillance data to public dashboards, submitting data to agencies and databases (e.g. NWSS), supporting wastewater surveillance response efforts as directed by the Oregon Health Authority, The Faculty research Assistant will support the routine collection and analysis of wastewater from utilities throughout Oregon. The Faculty Research Assistant will analyze data, contribute to research and develop manuscripts for publication.

Key Responsibilities
Wastewater Surveillance (70%)
- Maintain and implement improvements to Oregon statewide wastewater surveillance dashboard. Ensure that dashboard displays results for SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and RSV monitoring.
- Design public facing dashboards to display data and research findings.
- Use SAS and Tableau for data processing and public posting.
- Work with wastewater surveillance team to support wastewater collection and perform analyses.
- Evaluates data and identifies correlation of wastewater data and clinical data. Draws conclusions based on data analysis and research.
- Apply CDC variant schemes to research data and clinical data.
- Provide additional support as requested by the funding agency (Oregon Health Authority) to the general public and to local health departments)
Publications (30%)
- Authors and contributes to analyses and preparation of manuscripts and other works for publication. Will support manuscript preparation with correlation analyses.
- Reviews and provides feedback on publications, presentations, and other internal/external materials.
- Presents research results at workshops, seminars, and/or conferences
What You Will Need
- Master's Degree in public health
- Experience in reporting public health data to appropriate agencies and dashboards
- Knowledge of Tableau and SAS
- Experience in wastewater surveillance
- One or more (1+) years of professional experience at a Public Health agency
- Demonstrated commitment to promote and enhancing diversity

Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. When they have the driving Check mark.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Knowledge of and experience with ArcGIS
- Knowledge of and experience with the programing language R
- Experience in finding quantitative correlations between public health metrics
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work will be regular business hours with occasional travel to meetings. Generally, the position will work in an office setting.
