The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time board certified/eligible Gynecologic Oncologist at the Assistant Professor rank on an academic track to join the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology is one of the largest gynecological cancer programs in the Midwest.
About the Appointment:

  • This position will include clinical duties working with our Academic Health Center and local affiliated hospitals or where contracts for service exist with community hospitals as well as in ambulatory settings.
  • Additional responsibilities will include participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, clinical practice through M Physicians, and participation in service activities on behalf of the department, the medical school, and your profession.
  • The candidate should demonstrate their ability and experience in teaching and patient care at an academic medical center.
  • The position will require supervising, mentoring and teaching medical students, residents and fellows along with other curriculum development responsibilities.
  • The new hire will support multidisciplinary translational and clinical research. The successful candidate will participate in research projects and other academic/scholarly activities either as a collaborator or independent researcher and participate in faculty development activities tailored to the candidate's career interests and goals.
  • Educational responsibilities include supervision, instruction, and mentoring of fellows, residents, and medical students as well as a dedicated team of advance practice providers.

About the Department:
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health at the University of Minnesota has an illustrious, 131-year history. It began in 1887, led by Dr. Parks Ritchie, and grew into its current structure under Dr. Jennings C. Litzenberg, department head from 1913 to 1938. Linda F. Carson, MD, a longstanding faculty member and director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, became department head in 2001 after serving in an interim capacity. In 2018, after building upon the department's strong national reputation, Dr. Carson retired and handed the reins to John Fischer, MD, FACOG.
A strong departmental research program facilitates development of innovative approaches to treating women's health problems. An innovative research spirit can be found across the department. Several researchers are searching for biomarkers, preventive treatments, new drug therapies and ways to improve quality of life after a cancer diagnosis.
The faculty and staff in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health are dedicated to providing outstanding and progressive education to our medical students, residents and fellows. We are proud to offer a required OB/GYN clerkship and advanced electives for medical students; a large, diverse residency program; and fellowships in Gynecologic Oncology and maternal-fetal medicine
About the Division:
The Division of Gynecologic Oncology (GYN ONC) is an active member of the University of Minnesota Cancer Center; an NCI designated Cancer Center. We are a full member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group and have an ACGME accredited three-year fellowship.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and Gynecologic Oncology fellowship training program.
  • Board eligible/certified with in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.
  • Demonstrated research involvement and competence in teaching and communication.
  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States (if applicable).

  • Education focused and a creative problem-solver
