Reporting directly to the Head of Service Field HVDC/FACTS, the incumbent will be responsible, in collaboration with the client and the engineering group to ensure the commissioning of HVDC-FACTS systems and provide support equipment. It will also train and support these colleagues and the client's employees in performing this task. It should also be available 24/24 for support in case of emergency.
In GE Grid Services North America, you will travel to customer sites to support our customers for scheduled activities but also last-minute emergencies.
You will spend time at the office/home office (35% of your time) where you will prepare your site activities, including HSE procedures, tool lists, maintenance planning, test procedures and prepare your reports to be issued to customers at your return.Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for performing on site commissioning, maintenance, repairs, refurbishment and troubleshooting on existing GE installed base (HVDC and FACTS ).
- Write quality and comprehensive reports
- Prepare your site activities, including HSE procedures, tool lists, maintenance planning, test procedures and prepare your reports to be issued to customers at your return.
- Management of long-term service project with a major Utilities
- Ability to close out project deficiencies and Punchlist items
- Continuous development and specialized knowledge in HVDC and FACTS.
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
- Takes new perspective on existing solutions.
- Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
- Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Commission new GE HVDC/FACTS systems
- Inspect/maintain HVDC/FACTS systems

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor or master's in electrical engineering
- 4 years experience with HV or MV electrical maintenance and/or commissioning
- Travel 65% - International and Domestic
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with Power Electronics system (HVDC, SVC, Statcom)
- Master's in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with large electric machines (Synchronous condenser, general
- Customer Interface/Customer Oriented
- Team player & Good communication skills
- Experience with HV measurement devices (CTs, PTs...EHS focused
- Experience with relay protection tests, and HMI commissioning
- Experience with commissioning/troubleshooting of PLCs or control units
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Experience with communication protocol and communication troubleshooting
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with HV Breakers/Disconnector Switches/Transformers (An asset)
