Data CenterMaintenance Supervisor

General Summary

The main responsibility of this position is to support and maintain the overall operation and reliability of a 24hr X 7 X 365 Data Center and its infrastructure. This is an exempt, salaried position. The Maintenance Supervisor will have responsibility for a staff of twelve (12) facilities technicians. The Maintenance Supervisor will serve as primary liaison between the project manager, client and facilities technicians.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff of facilities technicians and all on-site sub-contractors. Responsible for developing and maintaining and balancing work schedules for all on-site personnel. The Maintenance Supervisor may also be responsible for covering some shifts of facilities technicians in the event of vacations, sickness or during periods of turnover.
  • Maintenance supervisor will be responsible for maintaining and adhering to the established quality control plan. This will consist of ensuring vendors complete preventive maintenance as scheduled, documentation is complete and accurate.
  • The Maintenance Supervisor must also have excellent organizational skills, as they will be tasked with primary responsibility for maintaining all documentation, including but not limited to service tickets, PM schedules, tour logs and equipment checklists.
  • Manage work order documentation using a CMMS system, including, but not limited to, entering equipment repairs, preventive maintenance schedules, documenting work orders, etc.
  • In addition to the administrative functions of the position, the candidate must also possess knowledge to operate, monitor, maintain and respond to all conditions in the facilities systems. Areas are including, but not limited to: electrical, mechanical, building monitoring and control systems.
  • Supervise monitoring of building mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems for proper function and operation. Oversee performance of basic repairs and schedule and coordinate with outside contractors for maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in development and coordinate with engineering and facility operations the design, estimating, purchasing and management of capital improvement and other special projects, as assigned.
  • Review daily observation reports to ensure visual inspections are occurring regularly.
  • Ensure spare parts and supplies are in stock or on order (maintain stock inventory list). Review and approve the purchase of tools, materials and supplies for required work.
  • Conduct and/or perform daily, weekly and monthly safety inspections as required.
  • Supervising staff of technicians will include training and evaluation of staff. The Maintenance Supervisor will also be involved in personnel decisions regarding staff of technicians.
  • Assist management in preparation and administration of facility budget.

Requirements

  • DATA CENTER EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED.
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience.
  • 10 or more years as industrial mechanic or technician level, or the equivalent in a facility environment. Preference given to applicants with experience in facility Data Centers, hospitals or power plants.
  • Excellent understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems, with performance in a Data Center environment, including, but not limited to: transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, PDU/PMM units, chillers, air handling units, CRAC units.
  • Ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work, as well as with tenants.
  • Excellent written communication skills are a must for dialogue with vendors, tenant and internal communications.
  • May require working alternate shifts in order to maintain full coverage of building operations in the event employees are on vacation, sick or otherwise incapacitated.
