Position:Facility & Equipment Maintenance

Department: Travel Plaza

Reports to: Truck Stop Manager and/or Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Part Time Hourly-Non-Exempt

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate, with some college or technical certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing maintenance.
  • Experience with general maintenance tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, and reach upward.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures and cleaning chemicals.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Obtain any applicable license or certifications.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs general facility and public area maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical equipment, kitchen equipment, laundry machines, and fuel pumps. Etc.
  • Properly maintains tools, workspaces, and equipment.
  • Completes grounds maintenance as necessary.
  • Completes preventive maintenance checklists and other maintenance records.
  • Portrays a positive attitude under all circumstances, understands and represents the core values of Chiricahua Apache Plaza and lives the mission of always providing exceptional service.
  • Works effectively with peers, team members, and regulatory agency personnel.

Core Competencies:

  • Adhere to and act in accordance with all Chiricahua Apache Plaza policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards may apply departmentally based on uniform requirements). Where uniforms are required, they must be clean and pressed at the beginning of each shift.
  • Competency to follow detailed procedures and ensure accuracy in documentation, carefully monitoring processes and routine work details.
  • Ability to clearly present information verbally and in writing; read and interpret complex information; actively listen and talk with guests and team members.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor during stressful situations.
  • Requires the knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with safety and various other equipment.

Supportive Functions:

  • Report any suspicious persons or activity immediately to a supervisor.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Truck Stop Manager and/or Operations Manager, including cross-training.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality/casino industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of Chiricahua Travel Plaza. We are busiest during weekends and holidays, events, and peak seasons as they occur. There is a reasonable expectation you will be scheduled on duty and/or ?on-call? during any of these times.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member may occasionally sit; and uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The team member may stand for prolonged periods, work in confined spaces and around temperature extremes, walk, climb, or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duty of this job, the team member is regularly exposed to risks associated with travel back and forth to other areas as may be required due to business demands. The team member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including second-hand environmental smoke. The noise level in the work environment varies from light to moderate.

At a minimum, the selected candidate will be required to pass a background check and drug-screening test, obtain a New Mexico food handler permit, and should have the ability to become alcohol server certified.
