Job Title: Facilities/Maintenance Specialist
Department: Facilities
Reports To: Director of Facilities
Role Summary
Assist in the maintenance and repairs of the NJ Corporate facility and Service Centers, including building systems and grounds to ensure pleasant working conditions. The Facility Technician will assess and consider daily:
(1) Safety of BVL employees, (2) Security of BVL assets, (3) Service to BVL employees.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
· Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: This involves inspecting and servicing equipment and systems (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, and others) on a regular basis to prevent breakdown and/or repairing or replacing equipment and systems that have broken down.
o Report defects, damages, and malfunctioning to the Director of Facilities.
o Initiate and/or respond to work orders for repairs and maintenance requests.
o Perform preventive and/or corrective maintenance tasks.
· General Maintenance: This includes tasks such as carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, and electrical work, replacing light bulbs, carpet cleaning, office remodeling, fixing broken desks and chairs, grounds keeping (debris pick up, snow removal), hanging pictures and shelves, repairing doors and locks.
· Keeping a record of all day-to-day maintenance activities undertaken at the Corporate and Service Center facilities.
· Act as the primary contact for any building issues (HVAC control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies, and repairs)
· Escort and monitor contractors’ performance to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
· Maintain all cleaning and shipping equipment in proper and safe working order.
· Safety Compliance: This involves daily inspections and ensuring that all work is done safely and in accordance with regulations.
· Coordinate and assist in office furniture set up and staff relocation.
· Assist in cleaning of work areas (dusting, carpet, floors, windows, walls, exterior, etc.) necessary to maintain clean and safe facility.
· Inspecting all electrical units and systems and ascertaining the proper functioning and determining when an electrician is required.
· Deliver all incoming UPS/FEDEX packages and assist in shipping any outgoing packages.
· Check copy machines and office printers daily to ensure they are filled with copy paper and toner.
· Assist with mail room services: post, distribute and pick up/drop off mail at the post office and maintain BRM/postage due account.
· Maintain inventory on coffee service supplies, cleaning supplies. Make sure that all equipment and supplies are available such as water coolers and coffee machines, etc.
· Assist, if necessary, with discarding all garbage in office area daily
· Assist other departments (including all Service Centers) with facility related projects and maintenance.
· Ensuring building and fire safety.
· Assist with maintaining building security and video surveillance monitoring.
· Other tasks and projects assigned or requested by Facilities Director and Senior Management.
o Assemble ECO Crates and wooden crates as needed.
o Assist in field tech projects and customer product assembly.
Qualifications and Experience
· Experience: 1-2 years facilities and/or maintenance background preferable
· Training/education: High School Diploma or equivalent
· Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
· Must communicate well with others.
· Ability to identify technical defects.
· Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools.
· Ability to perform minor repairs (mechanical, building, plumbing)
· Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
