Description
The Facilities Technician II, performs routine and preventative facility maintenance and non-scheduled repairs including general construction and building repairs/remodels, HVAC system maintenance, electrical work, plumbing, drywall repair, interior finishing and general facility duties including care of grounds, snow removal and physical facility appearance.
Starting Salary: $29,878-Depending on Experience
Responsibility
- Independently completes special projects, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs and routine in a timely manner as assigned by supervisor.
- Assists NRVCS in maintaining a safe and healthy environment by maintaining and coordinating implementation of all facility related policy and procedures, relocation to temporary shelters if needed, implementing plans for evacuation, and testing of emergency plans at assigned locations.
- Systematically performs facility inspections as needed or required, reporting to supervisor areas requiring attention.
- Provides general oversight of the work of Facility Technician I as assigned.
- Performs general building modifications, repairs, replacements, and equipment upgrades to agency facilities as needed or required.
- Successfully completes assigned facility work orders/requests in an organized, cost effective, and timely manner using the Computer Aided Facility Management System (CAFM).
- Works with contracted vendors on site to facilitate the rapid completion of subcontracted work as assigned by supervisor.
- Observes and recommends to supervisor appropriate actions needed to ensure the overall safety, maintenance and housekeeping needs of NRVCS facilities.
- Promotes positive communication among team members and conducts self in a professional manner at all times. Participates in team meetings unless excused, completes proper written communication, and relays other helpful information to supervisor and other team members as necessary. Works as scheduled to assure adequate staffing is available to support program needs.
- Arrives at work on time, provides back-up to supervisor as assigned and covers on-call as assigned.
- Cooperatively and efficiently performs any other related tasks as required by the Facilities supervisor / director
- Snow removal at all agency owned or leased properties to provide a safe environment for staff and clients
- Maintains all communications, written or verbal, with respect and confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 standards and regulations.
- Travels to other locations as required according to NRVCS policies and guidelines
Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the repair, maintenance and construction of buildings and related structures including, but not limited to electrical, heating/AC and plumbing systems.
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
- Ability to perform repairs and perform general maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Ability to read, understand and utilize blueprints, knowledge of IBC and NEC codes, State & Federal manuals concerning OSHA, fire regulations, and ADA regulations.
- Ability to problem solve and interact positively with staff, individuals served, and the community.
- Ability to make decisions within scope of responsibility.
- Working knowledge of word processing and other personal computer use.
- Must possess a valid driver's license (state of Virginia, unless otherwise approved by agency) with an acceptable driving record. Must maintain acceptable record throughout employment.
- Must have an acceptable criminal history background and child protective services check upon hire and maintained throughout employment;
- Must have acceptable drug screen results upon hire.
Education/Experience Required:
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma (or)
- Any combination of education and extensive work experience in the field of Facility Services including considerable experience in construction, repair, and maintenance work involving facilities.
- A qualified License to perform General Contracting work and/or trade license (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.
