Position Summary: The UAF Facilities Services Labor department is currently seeking to fill three full-time benefited positions. The chosen candidates will be joining a team that provides labor services and support to the UAF campus community, as well as the shops and departments of Facilities Services. Work tasks may include snow removal, office moves, departmental moves, event set ups, concrete repair, sign repair, and more. The hours for this position are typically from 7am to 3:30pm, but there may be opportunities for overtime and weekend work, as the campus operates 24 hours a day. The Facilities Services Labor team is seeking three individuals who have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks that involve repetitive movements and lifting heavy objects. The ideal candidates should have prior experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks, as well as knowledge of the proper handling of hazardous materials and industrial waste. Furthermore, the ideal candidate should possess self-motivation and problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively in a team with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

To thrive in this role, you must have at least 2 years of manual labor experience. It is preferred that you have experience in the construction or moving industry, or documented employment in such fields. Alternatively, you can have 2 years of experience in another general labor position or positions.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED preferred, 2+ years' of construction or moving industry experience preferred, basic understanding of construction principles and procedures. Alaska driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.

Salary Information: MSW4/Step 1 $21.65/hr.  (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, Wage Grade Schedule).
