The KC Fed is a Reserve Bank is seeking a Master Plumber to help us maintain our Kansas City office. The essential function of this role is to perform routine repair and maintenance on a variety of building systems including, but not limited to plumbing and mechanical systems. Alternately our technicians also perform general building related construction tasks around our facility.
The mission of the Federal Reserve is to support safe, sound, and stable banking and payments systems. The efforts of our Facilities Technicians allow our associates to work in a comfortable office setting to carry out this mission. Starting Salary: $61,600- $75,200
Key Activities:
  • Independently performs complex repair and maintenance of various systems and equipment with minimal supervision. Includes, but is not limited to, routine maintenance repair and installation of piping, valves, pumps, water heaters, boilers, and related equipment. Also, routine maintenance and repair of fire sprinkler protection systems.
  • Monitor and complete preventive maintenance and repair work orders via Computerized Maintenance Management System. May self-perform or schedule work with vendors depending on the complexity and scope of the task.
  • Responds independently to complex service calls and work order requests.
  • Provides training and guidance to other technical staff on areas of expertise.
  • Provides input to colleagues to develop project scopes and technical specifications.
  • Coordinates work with outside contractors and vendors with minimal supervision.
  • Takes on large plumbing projects with minimal supervision, coordinates the work from start to finish.
  • Completes all required safety training.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training in plumbing/ pipefitting field is preferred.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience, preferred 4-6 years of experience in plumbing or pipefitting work.
  • Journeyman or Master Plumbing License required.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater fixtures, filtration, piping and pumping systems.
  • Strong ability to operate portable power tools (drills, saws, grinders etc.) and non-powered hand tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to multitask and use time efficiently to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturer's warnings, labels, instructions, and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Strong ability to read and properly interpret schematics, blueprints, and design drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to effectively document changes made to systems and equipment.
  • Availability to work 2nd 3rd or weekend shifts depending on workload needs.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
