Job Description Summary
Job Responsibilities
Operate various types of trucks and light equipment; performs manual labor in the maintenance, repair and minor construction of ball fields, recreation facilities, parks, and buildings. Assign, schedule, and supervise seasonal staff. Maintain material and equipment inventory. Service and maintain equipment used in the maintenance of turf and park grounds. Oversee the watering, seeding, and maintenance of landscaping (flowers and plantings). Maintain turf with applications of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. Trim trees and shrubs. Irrigate, water, mow, edge, aerate, and maintain turf. Coordinate work with recreational staff and facility user groups to prepare parks prior to and during special events. Prepare and maintain tennis courts, ball fields, soccer fields, splash pads, basketball courts, volleyball courts, swimming pools, and extensive winter snow and ice removal. Maintain effective working relations with facility users. Maintain park playground equipment and park facilities with minor building maintenance and remodeling. Assist irrigation specialist with irrigation installation, repair, maintenance, plumbing, and related tasks. Perform overtime as required and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Requirements
Require a high school diploma/GED and experience in ground maintenance, nursery or landscape work. Must possess a valid Nebraska driver’s license and the ability to obtain an EPA pesticide applicator’s license within 12 months of hire. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Physical Requirements
Work Type: Heavy, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Climbing/Balancing: Climbs inclines and ladders, uneven surfaces, balance required
