Job Description
SAGE is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older people. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization as well as a local direct service provider in New York City that offers supportive services and resources for LGBTQ+ older people and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ+ older people and provides cultural competency training for aging providers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of system operations for HVAC, fire panel and sprinkler systems, security alarms, etc.
- Knowledge and expertise in addressing basic painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and maintenance repairs.
- Conduct monthly quality assurance site visits and report findings.
- Reference, monitor, and update the ticketing system to determine work order priorities.
- Coordinate vendor site visits and act as point day off. Monitor vendor while onsite and provide progress reports to supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with all security, fire, and safety regulations.
- Assemble and move furniture, shelving, and equipment within office; hang pictures, bulletin boards, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining and deep cleaning commercial kitchen appliances (hot/cold table, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, etc.)
- Assist with cleaning and facility upkeep on an as-needed basis.
- Responsible for distributing insect traps throughout each location and monitoring activity.
- Assist with opening and/or closing an NYC location on an as-needed basis.
- Assist with new hire onboarding; provide necessary access and office/desk set up.
- Order supplies and materials for repairs and maintenance.
- Inventory, replenish, and organize cleaning and maintenance supplies.
- Log and distribute parcels delivered to SAGE headquarters.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, reach, walk, and lift to 50 lbs at a time.
- Ability to operate basic tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects.
- Flexible and dependable – this position requires some flexibility around scheduling; some morning/evening or occasional weekend hours may be required.
- Ability to communicate via text messaging and Microsoft TEAMS app.
- S95 Certificate of Fitness for Fire Alarm Systems or willingness to obtain within the first three months of employment.
- Computer-literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Department: Finance & Administrative
Reports to: Director of Facilities and Office Services
Location: All NYC SAGE Locations (Midtown, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Harlem). May require travel between SAGE sites within the same day.
Status: Full-time/Exempt
Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours/week; generally, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. Schedule flexibility and work on Saturdays/Sundays, as needed.
Compensation:$49,410 – $58,412
