Position Profile: Facilities, Grounds and Events Supervisor - 2nd Shift
 
About the Position:  Saint Ignatius High School, a highly successful Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Facilities, Grounds and Events Supervisor to work with our Campus Operations team to oversee the operation of all facilities, Grounds and Events. The Facilities, Grounds and Events supervisor collaborates with the facilities, grounds & event lead to manage custodial needs including setup/breakdown for all campus events, projects and daily requirements.  The idea candidate will bring a customer service orientation as well as several years of supervisory experience in a school setting.  This full-time, non-exempt, year round position reports to the Director of Campus Operations.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:
 
  • Manage and direct all facilities, Grounds and Events staff to ensure up keep of all facilities.   
  • Perform quality control audits of staff performance.  
  • Schedule equipment and maintenance repairs.
  • Manage maintenance requests and ensure they are resolved.
  • Create staff work schedules and strategically distribute overtime based on business needs and Events.     
  • Conduct staff training on safety, equipment use and the science of cleaning.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Grounds and Events Lead on staff assignments and special projects.    
  • Provide a seasonal plan of action to the Director of Campus Operations.
  • Manage and recruit for the summer work program. 
  • Interact with campus event coordinators to complete all event setups and breakdowns for special events, sports, and recreation activities.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Event Planning and coordination on all building work requests and Events.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the buildings.
  •  Maintaining site landscaping; lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, turf and irrigation.
  • Operating and maintaining hand tools, such as loppers, saws and shovels efficiently.
  • Operating and maintaining trucks and power tools.
  • Keeping grounds free from trash, litter and debris, and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Removing snow by using shovel or snow blower.
  • Sweeps, mops, wet-washes, and vacuums floors and stairwells in assigned area.
  • Uses power scrubbers, extractors, floor machines, lawnmowers, weed-wackers, snow blowers, and all other equipment needed to perform job responsibilities as directed.
  • Provide customer service to all visitors, students, faculty, staff, and event sponsors
  • Reports to supervisor any acts of vandalism, deliberate littering, equipment failures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
 
  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
  • Ability to walk, climb extended ladders, stretch, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to operate a computer, check email and perform research for work related items.

About Saint Ignatius High School:
Saint Ignatius High School, which opened its doors September 6, 1886, is a Jesuit college-preparatory school. The school enrolls more than 1,400 young men who hail from 92 cities in an 11-county region. Located in close proximity to downtown Cleveland in the vibrant and energetic Ohio City neighborhood, the school occupies 23 acres and includes 19 buildings and three athletic fields. The school has 114 faculty members, 89 percent of whom hold advanced degrees. Fifty-six percent have spent 10 years or more teaching at Saint Ignatius.
Saint Ignatius is also home to The Welsh Academy, a middle school for boys from local families of modest economic means, founded in 2019. The academy enrolls more than 60 boys in grades 6-8 and occupies Kesicki Hall on campus.
