Job Description
The Facilities Engineer is responsible for oversight of design, operational and troubleshooting support for the clean utility distribution systems that include HVAC, WFI, RO, Purified Water, Clean Steam and Process Gases with knowledge of associated plant utilities within a million square feet medical device facility.
The Engineer will serve as a lead for utilities engineering between operations, maintenance, manufacturing, automation, quality assurance, validation and project engineering. This individual will work closely with a cross-functional team to meet the needs of the groups they support. - Develops and oversees staffing, training, scheduling, and budgeting for facilities personnel.
- Establishes a safe work environment for employees by performing safety audits and inspections, conducting safety-related training, and maintaining on-going communications with employees.
- Oversees building operations and maintenance, plans and operations, furniture and equipment inventories, utility operations, energy management, and grounds maintenance & janitorial.
- Manages HVAC equipment in all buildings
- Schedules all facility activities with the production managers in all buildings to minimize conflict with production schedules.
- Manages all facility maintenance activities with IQMS maintenance program.
- Oversees major infrastructure repair and renovations projects by identifying and managing vendors/contractors, including bid process, contract compliance, and vendor/contractor performance.
- Acts as the liaison for all remodeling, renovation and construction projects as it relates to product standards, design standards, scheduling shut-downs and system interruptions.
- Assists with the development of and compliance with departmental budgets, including capital, operating and construction budgets.
- Ensures continued compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations - OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations
- Works directly with vendors and Purchasing to request proposals for repairs, maintenance and capital improvements
- Requisitions tools, equipment, spare part and supplies required for operations.
Experience & Qualification:
- 3+ years experience in a supervisory role
- AA preferred in electrical, mechanical or HVAC or combination of education (technical college) and experience
- Individual must have trade knowledge – including NEMA standards for the electrical industry
- Experience and coursework in blueprint reading, electrical, heating and plumbing systems
- Must have proven experience running conduit and electrical services of 400-800 amps.
- Familiar with lean principles
