General Position Summary:
Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, rebuilds, constructs, and maintains woodwork and other related structures as needed by Port Madison Enterprises.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Installs, maintains and repairs woodwork and structures
- Works with other departments solving woodwork deficiencies.
- Constructs new facilities to include offices, buildings, etc
- Manages multiple projects within strict time constraints
- Maintains a preventative maintenance log of all carpentry related power equipment and makes recommendations for replacement. May assist in obtaining quotes.
- Reads designs/prints to architect specifications
- Suggests treatments that are consistent with the décor and theme of PME facilities and makes recommendations to preserve the building integrity
Secondary Functions:
- Follows all PME safety policies and reports unsafe work conditions immediately and prior to the commencement of any work
- Must hold a valid state of WA driver’s license
- Will assist the Engineering Department personnel as necessary to insure workflow
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Specific Job Skills:
- Ability to use hand and power tools, safely and efficiently
- Must be able to troubleshoot equipment using a schematic or wiring diagram (prints)
- Experience in all aspects of building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and refrigeration
- Strong mathematical skills (i.e., geometry, calculations, etc)
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED required. Minimum two (2) – four (4) years carpentry experience required. Formal trade school or demonstrated practical application of carpentry concepts is preferred.
Job Conditions:
Working conditions include inside or outside work, in possible inclement weather conditions for long periods of time. Climbing (stairs and use of ladders), lifting, bending, stooping and crawling into difficult workspaces. Other conditions include working alone, frequent interruptions, evenings and / or weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 75 lbs. while standing, twisting, turning, stooping or bending. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Manual and finger dexterity for operation of personal computers, adding machine, routine paperwork and hand and power tools.
