Facilities Associate

A Facilities Associate at VGM maintains the health, safety, and appearance of working environments by completing custodial tasks. Through professional, friendly and detail-oriented work, the facilities team provides clean, safe, inviting, and ready-to-use facilities for all staff and guests. Facilities Associates maintain the visual appearance of the VGM brand to all staff and guests entering the property. Through safe and appropriate use of cleaning supplies, techniques and equipment, you will ensure a high-quality experience for guests and staff at all times.

Reporting Accountability: Facilities Supervisor

Working Location: On-Site at VGM Main Headquarters in Waterloo, IA

Work Hours Classification: Full-Time, 8am-5pm CST Monday-Friday

Responsibilities/Duties of the Facilities Associate:

• Maintain internal and external appearance of VGM facilities to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for VGM staff and guests.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets, trash containers; refill restroom dispensers; replace light bulbs.
• Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets as scheduled.
• Maintain appearance of the outside of buildings, including mowing, trimming and de-weeding, snow removal around property at any of our VGM locations.
• Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
• Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
• Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
• Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds. Launder cleaning rags and dust mops.
• Attend to emergencies when necessary.
• Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
• Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR and working relationships.
• Handle recycling materials.
• Assist with inventory control and security.
• Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment.
• Support and enforce all policies of the VGM Group, such as health and safety regulations, guidelines, etc.

Position Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Possession of an active and valid driver's license.
• Excellent English language communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Maintain appropriate service, repair and custodial records.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for custodial, service and repair needs.
• Assist and serve as back up to other Facilities/Custodial and Facilities/Maintenance employees when needed. This may include working different hours as needed, or one of our other locations.

Physical Requirements

• Standing and moving about buildings for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend and kneel, climb a ladder, and operate cleaning equipment frequently.
