Job Description:
The primary responsibility of the Facilitator is to ensure Council meetings employ a fluid, consensus-based decision-making process, with all trustees’ concerns considered fully and equitably. The facilitator collaborates with the Council Chair (a position that rotates annually) to plan meetings and organize meeting agendas. The Facilitator coordinates with the Administrative Assistant to provide all meeting support.
Responsibilities:
· Seven years of experience as a facilitator for the Federal Government.
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
· Certified Professional Facilitator (preferred).
· Experience dealing with diverse interests and contentious issues.
· Knowledge of facilitating groups of diverse stakeholders to reach consensus decisions.
· Experience facilitating tribal, state, and federal stakeholders (preferred).
· Knowledge of environmental law, particularly the natural resource damage assessment (NRDA) portion of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Department of Interior regulations and guidelines about NRDA (preferred).
· Knowledge of applicable treaties, including the Treaties of 1855, and the rights and recognition of Tribal trustees as sovereign nations with traditional cultural interests in the landscapes and resources at the agency site (preferred).
· Identification of any conflicts, potential conflicts, or perceived conflicts of interest with any agency contractors.
