Job Summary:
This position reports to the Plant Manager or a Department Supervisor. Lays out, fabricates, and assembles developmental or experimental structural and mechanical parts and assemblies, and installs parts and assemblies in prototype containers or shelters., following engineering information, using precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment: Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, loft information, and related engineering data to plan sequence of operations and methods for fabricating, assembling, and installing parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities:
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements, cost reductions and profit improvement initiatives.
• Accident prevention – correct and/or report any unsafe working conditions before they result in an accident
• Sets up and operates shop equipment, such as band saw, table saw, drill press, shears, and to shape and form parts. Verifies dimensions of parts, using measuring instruments.
• Drills, countersinks, and reams holes in parts and assemblies for bolts, rivets, and other fasteners, using power tools.
• Aligns and joins structural assemblies, using transit, sight level, hand tools, power tools, clamps, and fasteners. Installs experimental parts and assemblies in prototype structure to verify accuracy of layout and assembly. Tests functional performance of installed parts.
• Confers with engineers to resolve fabrication and installation problems. May fabricate or modify tooling, such as jigs, fixtures, templates, and form blocks.
• May fabricate and assemble reduced-scale mockups of parts and assemblies. May be designated by type of part or assembly developed as Hydraulic and Plumbing Development, Mechanic, Experimental Structural Assembly, etc.
• Lifting production objects of up to 50lbs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Skills/Qualifications: Knowledge of the principles, practices, materials, tools. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and to work from blueprints and sketches. Skill in the use and operation of tools and equipment used in the fabrication and mechanical equipment. AWS D1.1 Certified preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: The candidate should possess 2-5 years related experience.

Location: This position is onsite (non-remote) at the Company’s corporate headquarters in Cinnaminson, NJ. This position may occasionally require working overtime and/or working outside of the Company’s normal hours of operation.
