Extrusion Machine Operator (5:45PM-6:15AM, Rotating Shift) - Elk Grove Village, IL
Our client in Elk Grove Village, IL is searching for an Extrusion Machine Operator. Our client provides a wide range of products serving the foodservice and food packaging industry.
Work hours are 5:45PM – 615AM on 12hr rotating shift (C & D shifts, hours 36 one week: S, W, Th and 48 the next: M, T, F, Sa in consistent patterns) with every other weekend off. Possible overtime though very occasional.

Safety Responsibilities:
- Ensures equipment is operated properly and safety mechanisms and guards are in place
- Understands how to handle machine properly during an emergency, which includes power outages, machine failure, workplace injuries, etc.
- Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines; wears PPE as required
- Understands and performs Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
- Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident
Tasks:
- Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments, and material requirements
- Ensures sheet quality by performing required quality assurance tests and inspections
- Monitors in-line inspection and quality issues; completes any re-inspection that is ordered
- Follows plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP’s
- Operates 2 types of extruder lines and machines, including proper start-up/shut-down
- Adjusts settings, controls, and machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, and temperatures, and amounts, dimensions, and flow of materials
- Monitors machine operations and observes lights and gauges to detect malfunctions, delivering scraps to reprocessing area
- Executes troubleshooting and adjusts processing problems, filling out daily logs/reports
Qualifications:
- Willingness to work and follow verbal/written instructions
- May be required to use floor loading trucks
- Ability to work safely, willingness to train in cross-functional areas, work overtime as needed.
