External Mortgage Loan Officer

The External Mortgage Loan Officer continually identifies, develops, and maintains a quality network of relationships within their assigned market that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. Utilizing a network of real estate professionals, builders, professional and personal contacts, the External Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for generating mortgage applications within their assigned market. This position requires significant travel and prospecting. Compensation for this position is commission based.

What does an External Loan Officer do?

• Identifies potential borrower referral sources and develops a referral network through marketing, phone calling, prospecting, and networking activities within their assigned market.
• Creates product/features and benefits presentations, solicits opportunities to deliver to audiences of 10+.
• Identifies, coordinates and executes a variety of external/outbound business development activities through all channels in order to generate business not otherwise obtained internally.
• Plans and participates in real estate business development activities of the Credit Union through Title Company/Realtor/Builder/Community relationships to support lead generation.
• Providing off-site origination and Credit Approval/Pre-Approval services of Mortgage Loans, as necessary.
• Responsible for identifying potential borrowers and evaluating and proposing real estate financing options. This includes and is not limited to: providing closing cost and total settlement quotes, rate, and payment quotes, 'break-even' points, and total potential interest dollar savings as determined from an amortization schedule.
• Takes complete and accurate mortgage applications, participates in obtaining all necessary support documents, oversees the loan process by monitoring loan status and ensuring conformity to terms.
• Works with Processors to ensure that loan docs submitted to Underwriting are of the highest quality possible and to ensure that loan conditions are met.
• Ensures exceptional member experience by interacting and interfacing with all parties involved in each individual loan transaction, from application to closing.
• Communicates with members and Realtors as necessary during various stages of the loan process.

Am I qualified?
This position requires the following education and experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years:
  • External mortgage lead generation
  • Loan origination
