The Role:

Have you wanted to influence a high technology, high fashion commodity that the studio calls the "jewelry" of the vehicle, continuously innovates, and reaches across the Body Exterior and Electrical SMTs?

This position requires a high level of independent discernment and is responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering and coordinating programs, counseling and advising management.

As a fully-qualified individual contributor who has detailed knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the function, you will provide experienced judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems. Resolve highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research. Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Skilled and proficient with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

At this level you are expected to operate with a high level of independent discernment and are typically responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering and coordinating programs, counseling and advising management. As a fully-qualified individual contributor who has thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the function, you will provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems. This person will also resolve highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research, recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • ASIL Classification / Functional Safety (ISO26262) process experience

  • Work with cross-functional areas to develop lamp electronics design proposals and options, negotiate balance of Studio / content.

  • Design Exterior Lighting Electronics Hardware to interface with GM vehicle electrical architecture

  • Support Root Cause of electronics failures, including component tests, pre-production properties and launch/current product

  • Work includes support of global programs / interactions with global supply base

  • Generating and executing performance requirements based on benchmarking, program priorities, energy management, mass, lit appearance/animation, packaging feasibility to support new vehicle programs

  • Coordinate and conduct benchmarking to support design direction competitiveness

  • Support technical leadership for advanced component or technology development

  • Ability to work with limited data and make effective decisions always putting customer 1st

  • Performing complex engineering evaluation analysis balancing business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, power consumption and timing

  • Product development team leadership experience and program management of new subsystem experience required

  • Communicating information to and from internal (PDT, regular program meetings, scheduled peer reviews and program gate reviews) and external customer organizations.

  • Staying abreast of relevant new technology and competitive products.

  • Assist/Lead in the development of Statement of Requirements (SOR) Creation and lead in the development of statements of work

  • Create and support Interface Control Document (ICD) requirements for component and subsystem interfaces Assist/Lead Product Development Team meetings

  • Technical contributions at Peer Reviews and through development process improvements

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with electronics design hardware design
