Summary of Position
This position is located at Extension’s Belknap County office in Laconia, New Hampshire. The Field Specialist will provide technical assistance and develop educational programming in Livestock Production to new and experienced livestock producers. Educational needs in the region include animal husbandry practices, animal health management, regulatory considerations and best management practices in meat and poultry processing. The candidate will work individually and as part of a team to host educational events and produce educational resources.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- A master’s degree and two years relevant experience is preferred. At least one degree must be in an agricultural field from an accredited institution, with course work in animal science. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years relevant experience may be considered. If hired, employment would be contingent upon completion of a master’s degree within seven years.
- Experience in Livestock Production.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers and clients with a variety of values and interests.
- Self-directed with strong organizational skills.
- The successful candidate will be expected to accomplish year-round field work and be available to work some nights and weekends.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel for work. Mileage will be reimbursed at the current federal rate.
Additional Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated competency in presenting educational programs and using computers and current communication technology (e.g., presentation software, video conferencing, and use of online reporting systems).
