Summary of Job Duties:
These position's are available at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences (SAFHS) Lonoke farm. The applicant must be able to operate modern farm equipment and demonstrate the ability to develop effective working relationships with other personnel at the university and with the clientele group. The position's requires the ability to work unsupervised and/or unassisted at various sites both at the farm and other locations. Applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs. and must have a valid Arkansas driver's license.
FUNCTIONS
1.Provide assistance in field crop research and/or demonstration which includes, but not limited to field preparation, weed control, maintenance and monitoring water usage during irrigation of crops.
2.Collect and record data
3.Operate tractors and other machinery to prepare and/or maintain field plots.
4.Maintain appearance of research and/or demonstration plots and adjacent areas.
5.Assist with harvesting and processing of crops from research and/or demonstration plots.
6.Collect and prepare plant and soil samples following available guidelines.
7.Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or SAFHS Administrator.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma plus at least one year experience with farm work.
