JOB SUMMARY

Provides client support for Altera Solutions, by remotely accessing client systems and effectively communicating and documenting progress. Focuses on the physical and application aspects of database administration such as installation, application troubleshooting and performance optimization. Assesses nature of system or service issues and resolves complex technical support problems through independent judgement and advanced problem-solving skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 6 + years of experience in handling Sql server DBA activities, handling performance issues.
  • Interacts with client hospital IT staff via phone and email to help troubleshoot and resolve highly complex product problems or issues, with a focus on backend infrastructure and the database.
  • Connects to client environments to diagnose and resolve complex customer questions or problems in the areas of system performance and stability, as well as product installation and system functionality.
  • Communicates progress and resolution to the client and documents all work in a case record.
  • Assists field technicians who are troubleshooting problems or implementing our solutions.
  • Conducts performance monitoring, utilizing database management tools to evaluate and resolve performance problems.
  • Reports defects and design issues to our development teams.
  • Stays abreast of current technology in products, design changes and new products offered.
  • Documents problems and solutions as articles for our Knowledge Base and reviews and approves knowledge articles written by others.
  • Reports defects and design issues to our development teams.
  • Works on most complex database related issues directly with client DBAs, development and external consultants.
  • Sound Technical Knowledge in troubleshooting Sql server issues such as Always On, High CPU Utilization issues, Performance Troubleshooting, Sql Server Agent Jobs, Replication, Query Optimization, Stored procedure etc.
  • Should have good knowledge on Writing T SQL scripts and debugging complex sql queries, should be able to analyze the stored procedure and T Sql Code and should be able to troubleshoot technical issues from system and application perspective.
  • Sound knowledge on Windows server, Windows server logs, windows printing, IIS – Web services
  • Additional preferred Knowledge: Knowledge of Active Directory, Basic knowledge on Networking, Microsoft certification - Microsoft sql sever and Microsoft windows server.
  • Performs root cause analysis of recurring issues.
  • Mentors and coaches junior team members.
  • Performs root cause analysis of recurring issues.
  • Acts as a single point of contact for client specific escalations, providing necessary leadership in the absence of a manager.
  • Performs proactive review of client environments to improve system reliability and prevent future support engagements.

Academic and professional qualifications

  • BA or BS degree preferred and/or other relevant combination of training and experience.

Experience

  • 2-3+ years of Industry experience preferred
  • 6+ years' experience as Sr. Database Support Analyst / having knowledge in performing DBA activities

Travel requirements

  • May require local travel
  • May require other travel for business needs.

Working arrangements

  • May require after hours on call support
