  • Conducting regulatory analyses related to Air Quality matters as driven by the Clean Air Act as well as state and local regulations and evolving greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations and reporting programs;
  • Preparing air and GHG emissions inventories and emissions calculations;
  • Support the delivery of projects focused on energy transition, decarbonization, net-zero and science-based targets, energy, and carbon reporting, and analytics;
  • Preparing analysis to support carbon and climate change programs, environmental impact assessments, regulatory analysis and permitting, and compliance solutions;
  • Conducting Air Quality impact analysis involving dispersion modeling and health risk assessment;
  • Developing Air Quality permit applications under new source review, prevention of significant deterioration, Title V, and state-level regulations;
  • Support decarbonization pathway analyses including developing carbon reduction feasibility and cost analysis and life cycle analysis modeling for client projects, products, and operations;
  • Performing analyses related to air pollution control systems and source monitoring and measurements;
  • Working directly with clients delivering outstanding results, forming valued relationships and solving some of their more challenging issues;
  • Maintaining relationships with clients to secure repeat or follow on work;
  • Grow a professional network through which new opportunities or clients might develop; and
  • Understanding client needs and developing work scopes with input from Geosyntec client managers and teams to propose approaches, solutions and resources; and working on teams to prepare competitive proposals highlighting Geosyntec capabilities and experience.
  • Training: Geosyntec will provide training in OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Occasional overnight travel and client site visits should be expected.

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering or an aligned engineering discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (preferred)

  • At least 8 years of consulting or industry experience in Air Quality permitting, compliance and air dispersion modeling; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Understanding of chemical engineering concepts such as chemical process calculations and mass transfer. (required)
  • Experience with GHG accounting including Scope 1, 2, and 3 calculations, and science-based target setting. (required)
  • Understanding of the climate change policy and regulatory landscape as well as the wider Environmental Social Governance (ESG) reporting and disclosure landscape. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with ESG-related standards and frameworks including the GHG Protocol, SASB, GRI, and Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures. (preferred)
  • Experience in climate risk assessment, particularly quantitative approaches to measuring risk and scenario analysis AND/OR technical knowledge of net-zero and decarbonization planning. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with USEPA and state environmental regulations and understanding of the air permitting process. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Regional representation through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $118,955
  • Maximum Salary: $166,535
