Job Title: Expense Accounting, AVP
The Expense Accounting team sits within the Expense & Treasury Accounting (ETA) team of the Corporate Accounting & Finance organization, supporting corporate support groups as well as BSP/BXCM.
The team interacts with a wide range of business partners and is responsible for the accounting and forecasting of all Blackstone support groups. Additionally, the team drives regional occupancy and depreciation accounting and forecasts, as well as performing many ad hoc analyses. Interaction with other finance groups is extensive.
The AVP would assist in the accounting and reporting for all of the Firm's support groups and the other tasks included in accounting for our administrative/overhead entity, BASP. The AVP would drive month-end activities including posting month end journals, GL to sub-ledger reconciliations, work papers, allocations and standard accounting close tasks. Systems such as Oracle, Essbase, WSS and Excel would be regularly utilized. The AVP would also lead projects that improve controls, processes and system enhancements.
Additionally, the role would involve some responsibilities supporting Blackstone's broker dealer. This would include deal driven revenue accounting, expenses, reconciliations, regulatory filings, and annual financial statements.
Key Responsibilities Include:
General:

  • Monthly closing of the books - booking journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet and P&L analysis
  • Expense allocations
  • Occupancy related costs accounting and analysis
  • Fixed asset accounting
  • Broker Dealer accounting; includes Revenue coordination with deal team, expenses, work papers, regulatory filing, etc.
  • Coordination with internal and external auditors
  • Leveraging reporting systems, e.g. Essbase, Sigma and other reporting tools to support ad hoc requests. Requires attention to detail at granular levels.
  • Management of expense forecasting and budgeting
  • Sarbanes Oxley compliance
  • Ad hoc requests

Balance Sheet:
  • Reconciliations and relevant journal entries
  • Intercompany Reconciliation and Settlement of outstanding balances
  • Balance Sheet review and ownership of relevant accounts

Income Statement:
  • Trend analysis
  • Business by business review of Overhead allocations

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Accounting degree
  • Audit experience
  • CPA licensure as well as SEC reporting and Financial Services industry experience a plus
  • Broker Dealer accounting experience/familiarity a plus
  • Series 99 License a plus; licensing ultimately required
  • Strong technical, analytical & interpersonal skills are required
  • Superior Excel and PowerPoint skills are required
  • Experience with Oracle general ledger, Insight/Hubble Software or Essbase a plus
  • Experience with Data Visualization tools, for example: Tableau, Power BI or Sigma also a plus
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and accountability are critical
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, can-do attitude and results-oriented individual with a real sense of urgency and commitment
  • Quick learner and able to quickly turnaround ad-hoc requests
  • Interest in process optimization & identifying opportunities for creating efficiencies & comfort level to speak up to communicate them

Expected annual base salary range:
$115,000 - $185,000
Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
