We are searching for an Expansion Planning Planner who will work on the Expansion Planning team and will perform power flow modeling and contingency analysis (steady-state, transient stability, voltage stability, small-signal stability), conduct project review, and prepare compliance reports.

Also, as an Expansion Planning Planner, you will have the opportunity to work alongside MISO members and stakeholders in moving approved transmission projects through regulatory processes and develop and present transmission plans for inclusion in the MISO Transmission Expansion Plan (MTEP).

In one year, you will know you’re successful if:

  • You can successfully collaborate with MISO’s members and others within the Expansion Planning team to successfully complete an MTEP cycle.
  • You support our NERC compliance efforts including TPL-001-5.1 and other NERC standards.
  • Successfully apply power engineering concepts and theories to evaluate and recommend multiple courses of action.

We are looking for hardworking candidates who have at least a bachelor’s degree in any of the following:

  • Engineering
  • Engineering Technology
  • Data Analytics
  • Or another closely related field

While not required, it would be advantageous if you have any of the following:

  • Related power system planning or operations experience.
  • Experience with NERC standards and compliance
  • Experience with power system analysis software such as PSSE, VSAT, TSAT, or TARA

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
