Job Description

We are seeking an Exhibit and Experiential Spec Designer with a passion and skill for finding solutions that meet the demands of public display and remain in a set forth budget. The ideal candidate will be skilled at selecting materials, finishes, and other design choices/details. Functionality and attention to detail are key for this position. The Exhibit and Experiential Spec Designer reports to the Creative Director and Project Manager. The candidate will work with cross-functional team members and will rely heavily on both historical and measurable data to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

In partnering with our team and clients’ needs, you will use your insights to help create exhibits and environments that showcase creative vision.

More responsibilities in detail include:

1. Explore and develop unique design solutions for graphic displays, mechanical interactives, and all other exhibit needs.

2. Ensure that exhibit specifications fulfill the conceptual vision.

3. Fulfill conceptual vision within a stated budget.

4. Take existing conceptual ideas and develop them into actionable plans.

• Basic dimensions drawings
• Material / Equipment call-outs

5. Define how visitors experience stories and messages through exhibits and interactive objects.

6. Work / meet with Fabrication Director and team to ensure proper build methods.

7. Create material finish boards for client approval.

8. Facilitate clear communication to fabricators on approved designs.

9. Travel to and photograph completed exhibit installs for website use.

10. Modify and revise existing designs to meet changing customer preferences.

11. Work closely with the fabrication team to suggest improvements for builds and processes.

12. Present specification design ideas to cross-functional teams and clients.

13. Some outside travel required based on job needs.

Requirements

• Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, copywriting, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members
• Ability to collect and interpret feedback
• Ability to effectively communicate and persuade around design concepts
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Recommend new tools and technologies by staying abreast of the latest trends and techniques
• Programs utilized: SketchUp Pro, Adobe Suite, Fusion 360
• Some CAD experience would be desirable
• Strong sense of spatial design, environmental design, and interior design
• Detail oriented
• General construction knowledge
• Assist in the preparation of construction documents
