Now Hiring: Exercise Specialist

A favorite fixture in Boulder since 1960, Frasier is an independent, non-profit (501(c)(3), mission driven, CARF accredited continuing care retirement community. We are growing and it isn't just new (and greener) buildings! We are growing our programs and offerings both inside and outside our campus, implementing innovative methods to create community, and building on our culture of excellence.
The Frasier Wellness team works with our residents to provide them with a comprehensive wellness program that focuses on individualized whole-person wellness, which includes all 6 components of wellness. We have a state-of-the-art wellness center, functional fitness studio, therapy pool and a lap pool, as well as smaller Satellite Wellness centers located throughout our campus. We are expanding our team as we start to offer more services to our 450 residents.
YOU are full of energy, creative, and innovative. You are highly motivated, outgoing, creative and multi-faceted Exercise Specialist who loves to work with Seniors. You will teach aquatics classes in out 2 swimming pools, conduct exercise classes in our Assisted Living and Memory Care, you will also work with Wellness Department in developing employee wellness classes and programs. You embody a whole-person wellness philosophy and work well in a team setting.
Your schedule will be flexible: (here are some options)

  • 6:30am-3:00pm (Mon-Fri)
  • 7:30am-4:00pm (Mon-Fri)

Here's what you'll do:
  • Work under the supervision of the Wellness Director to collaboratively ensure goals, self-efficacy, and quality of life of residents.
  • Provides assessment, planning, and education to Frasier residents on individual and group exercise programs; must be able to train residents on exercise equipment.
  • Evaluates residents' functional capacity, limitations, and determines appropriate plan of action according to the Wellness Department safety policies and procedures.
  • Re-evaluates residents plan of action and program design within established resident goals.
  • Teach individual 1:1 personal training exercise program and/or group exercise classes of 3+ residents.
  • Oversee residents during supervised exercise hours, providing safe and effective exercise instructions.
  • Maintain specialty certifications that benefit the philosophy and operations of the program.
  • May be requested to assist with ongoing program development (using personal expertise, strengths, and certifications.
  • Oversee Wellness Center maintenance and cleaning of equipment and pool.
  • Utilize attendance tracking/check-in system to check members in and out of the Wellness Center, enter class attendance, update personal schedule, and schedule clients.
  • Stay current on research and literature related to older adult wellness information and programming.
  • Create and update the electronic listing of events in the Wellness Center in the Touchtown system.
  • Assist with the coordination of wellness events; create and maintain a master wall calendar of all events.
  • Create and assemble packets for wellness outings.
  • Write monthly publications as needed.
  • Create and update fliers, signup sheets, and handouts.
  • May be requested to assist with billing.
  • Other duties not listed may be assigned.

Here's what you need:
  • Our ideal candidate must have a minimum of 1 year experience as a Certified Exercise Physiologist, Exercise Specialist, or Experienced Personal Trainer within the last year. ACSM preferred and or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with the 65+ population or related age groups.
  • Experience with group and individuals exercise programming and instruction preferred.
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of the aging process and the 6 aspects of wellness from a whole person perspective.
  • Exercise certification is preferred. Experience and certifications in Aquatics, Yoga, Pilates, and Balance preferred.
  • Requires a level of clinical knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field.
  • Must have strong interpersonal communications and human relation skills. Dependability and flexibility is a must.
  • Some computer skills/knowledge and ability to learn current software systems.
  • Requires the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare provider if applicable.
  • CPR Certification is required at time of hire.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay Range is $21 - $25 per hour
