The Department of Revenue's Property Tax division is in search of an exemplary individual to supervise its Exemption and Deferral Team as the Exemptions and Deferrals Supervisor.

During the first few months, you will receive hands on training in the office although telework may also be available. The details will be worked out between you and your supervisor.

As the Exemption and Deferral Supervisor (PAS 6), your primary responsibilities include, leading staff in the completion of complex nonprofit Property and tribal audits, renewals, senior and limited income deferrals, and consultations to the public and county assessment officials. You will also conduct staff performance evaluations, set expectations, distribute workloads, review work for accuracy and defensibility, and provide guidance on exemption and deferral related issues.
Here are some other responsibilities:
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of staff, adjusting assignments and schedules.
  • Assess training needs of staff and provide instruction with career development.
  • Provide program and policy recommendations regarding the administration of the Exemptions & Deferrals program.
  • Conduct all aspects of hiring new staff members.
  • Perform analysis on bill and legislative proposals.
  • Participate in legislative meetings.
  • Serve as the primary backup to the Exemption & Deferral Manager.
A bachelor's degree involving major study in business, public administration, finance, real estate, economics, accounting, or related field
AND
four years of experience as a lead, supervisor, or equivalent progressively responsible experience that demonstrates your knowledge of supervisory principles
OR
One year of experience as a Property and Acquisition Specialist 5 or equivalent experience.
In addition to the above qualifications, successful candidates must also possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Additional qualifying experience may substitute year for year for education.

Preference may also be granted to those candidates with:
  • Four years' experience in activities such as non-residential property management, title examination, relocation assistance, or selling, leasing, or buying commercial real estate, or auditing and/or appraising real or personal property.
  • Knowledge of property tax laws, rules, and advisories.
