Job Summary

The Executive Vice President (EVP) of General Atomics' Electromagnetic Systems Group (GA-EMS) is responsible for the development of strategic business roadmaps, fast delivery of solutions, and a phased agile approach to meet customer needs including, key government or military stakeholders. This position reports to the President of the General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems Group (GA-EMS Group) with primary responsibility for leadership and oversight for an organization of approximately 1,400 that has both highly technical as well as non-technical components.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The EVP will translate leading industry trends, technological progress, and customer needs into a roadmap of products and services that increase customer value now and in the future.
  • Evaluate and pursue strategic investments, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance the organization's capabilities and posture in the marketplace while maintaining a worldwide reputation for technical leadership and excellence for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.
  • Establish and maintain executive level engagement with government, military, and internal General Atomics key stakeholders to collaborate with them regarding GA-EMS strategy and progress in delivering solutions that meet the needs of customers in a rapidly changing and evolving environment.
  • Direct the attainment of strategic, technical and financial business objectives. Ensure accurate financial budgeting reporting and forecasting.
  • Responsible for aggregating feedback from the GA-EMS Senior Leadership Team to develop an integrated approach and technology roadmap to meeting overall company goals that leverages the rich heritage in research, science, and technology to develop and deliver multi-mission systems and innovative products to help defend our national interests and support critical commercial enterprises worldwide (e.g. specialized products and integrated solutions that support critical systems for maritime, space, missile, projectile, laser, sensor, power and energy applications) .
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy in defining the direction for strategic activities to achieve customer and business objectives. Establish and implement current and long-term business strategy and product portfolio.
  • Improve profitability by optimizing operational effectiveness and efficiency by directing and allocating technical, financial, and human capital resources to achieve business objectives. Oversee and direct the ongoing review of the organization's performance, including financials, productivity, and quality.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations are observed.
  • Responsible for ensuring that work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications
  • This is a key position requiring unique experience, technical education, and background including extensive managerial, planning, technical, financial, and business operational experience.
  • Must have extensive technical experience with Space Systems, Shipbuilding, and/or Weapons Systems.
  • Must have experience owning P&Ls of significant value.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to identify trends and predict outcomes of decisions that drive financial performance.
  • ability to influence and take ideas and turn them into action.
  • Manages people well; encourages high performance; sets and communicates guiding goals; measures accomplishments, holds people accountable, and gives useful feedback; delegates and develops; keeps people informed; provides coaching for today and for the future.
  • An active Top Security Clearance is highly desired
