In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC). This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. ***This position will be in Kansas City, MO with a Hybrid Office Schedule***
The Executive Protocol Officer will be primarily responsible for working with the organization to define and manage meetings, visits, and event procedures in support of the KCNSC, in Kansas City and Albuquerque. This includes planning and coordinating all aspects of visits by Distinguished Visitors (includes representatives of United States (US) and allied governments ), Very Important Persons (includes generals and other flag officers and high-ranking civilian employees of US Department of Defense (DoD) components), in addition to official visitors of the US Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The EPO will also plan and coordinate visits for various tenant activities within KCNSC and others. This role provides leadership through influence with a protocol specialist to support the creation and operations of newly formed protocol office and will report to the director of strategic communications.
Job Duties:
  • Stand-up a new protocol office, building upon institutional knowledge and industry best practices for a best-in-class function.
  • Develop and maintain policies, processes and procedures ensuring efficient planning and effective executing of hosted site strategic visits, meetings, ceremonies, and tours for high-level dignitaries, government officials and other VIP guests.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for site visits, ceremonial and special events hosted by organizational leaders, program directors and NNSA's field office.
  • Liaises with dignitaries' offices and staffs; manages the logistics on a wide range of services, including but not limited to: coordinating with security contacts for accesses and clearance transfers, tours, travel, hotel arrangements, meeting room management, audio visual services, transportation, parking and meals.
  • Responds professionally to requests for assistance in all matters related to protocol procedures and engages internal stakeholders to ensure details are accomplished.
  • Collaborates with communications, government relations, program managers, IT and other internal functions to ensure presentations and messaging are aligned.
  • Creates and maintains content to help guests, with visitor's guides, clearances, and the overall guest experience.
  • Build and maintain a Protocol Office presence on KCNSC's internal and external websites/portals; creates and updates policies/procedures and information as required.
  • May occasionally be required for follow up on actions based upon the outcome of a visit.
  • Develops and oversees content about key visits and events for internal and external channels.
  • Lead efforts and personnel assigned to Protocol Office.
  • Compiles cost estimates and manages budgets as appropriate for upcoming fiscal year budget requirements for the protocol office function.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain a DOE security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, political science, hospitality, or related field is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of closely related experience in protocol planning and implementation.
  • Ability to travel.

  • Superior project management skills and a strong professional acumen.
  • Understanding of military organizational and rank structures, customs and courtesies a plus.
