The Executive Director of the Southern Arkansas University Foundation plays a pivotal role in advancing the University/Foundation by overseeing the efficient operation of the Foundation, coordinating with the Foundation Board of Governors to achieve key strategic objectives, and stewarding resources in alignment with donor intent.
Duties: Maintain in-depth collaborative relations with the Advancement Team, university departments and the SAUF Board of Governors to provide support for initiatives of the university and to assist with donor stewardship; provide effective and timely communication and all support services necessary for the Board of Governors to function properly and make informed decisions; oversee and supervise an accounting system designed to enhance the accuracy of the foundation’s reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles, IRS non-profit regulations, and CASE guidelines; work with external accountant to establish and review the Foundation’s annual financial statements and Form 990; develop and implement the policies of the Board of Governors for managing the endowed funds, distributing earnings, and reporting to donors and report on the endowment to appropriate university units; direct and maintain an efficient process of receiving and processing donations and provide detailed reports to the Colleges/Departments; implement strategies to ensure accountability in the use of gifts in compliance with donor goals; produce periodic financial reports for donors, university offices, and the Foundation Board of Governors; manage and maintain a database of alumni, donors, and potential donors, and facilitate training for university personnel in said database; collaborate with University’s departments, academic units and administrative offices to communicate donor intent and impact and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; experience in nonprofit management; demonstrated skills in marketing, communications, accounting; skills in investment management preferred; possess strong attention to detail and financial understanding; ability to manage financial accounts, funds/gift intake and receipting; ability to work with software to manage databases and prepare financial documents suitable for audit; proven organizational skills and effective written and oral communication skills.
