The Role at a Glance

As the Excel/VBA Development Specialist, you will perform and deliver on routine assignments & development of benchmark test tools for our Annuity illustration and administration systems. You will serve as a technical resource to furnish advice to internal stakeholders, providing support for policy performance, tax code calculations, and system(s) related issues.  You will provide forward thinking analysis furnishing advice to various stakeholders, provide support for numerous functions of the Annuity business and support ad hoc Annuity analytical initiatives. 
 

What you'll be doing

•    Develop Excel-based testing models for Variable, Fixed, Indexed, Immediate and Deferred Income Annuities to ensure the accuracy of our illustration systems – adding new products to existing spreadsheet models, creating new spreadsheets for new products and updating existing spreadsheets for product changes. 
•    Prepare spreadsheets for the illustration system with each release to verify illustration accuracy.
•    Respond to queries from Distribution regarding product illustrations and projections. 
•    Interacts with multiple internal business areas, such as compliance and legal departments, to communicate detailed policy calculations, determine process improvements and issue resolution for tools and databases.
•    Researches, interprets, and explains processes, procedures, and/or calculations related to the performance of products.
•    Provides training to work groups/team members and serve as a resource for ad hoc annuity product pricing and risk analysis assignments as needed. 
•    Utilizes knowledge of products and markets to offer advice and suggestions to various Business Units and leadership to support the overall customer experience within Lincoln.
•    Reviews process to quality check policy information and calculations in various administrative systems; recommends improvements to process as needed.
•    Collaborates with stakeholders in other departments to increase turnaround time and reduce hand off.
•    Advises IT on proposed updates/changes to administrative systems to ensure systems accurately reflect calculations and how product performs per policy specifications.
•    Reviews IRS code calculations prepared by internal/external stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

•    4 Year Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of equivalent work experience 
•    1 - 3+ Years of experience in modeling or programing - Insurance experience preferred  (Required)
•    Strong Excel and VBA experience required. 
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
•    Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
•    Works with mathematical concepts such as averages and/or variances.
•    Ability to evaluate information and the implications of a course of action or solution.
•    Ability to interpret and apply understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
•    Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
•    Demonstrated solid relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues). 
•    Demonstrates solid project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Pay Range: $51,900 - $75,800 

 

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
