Excavator Operator

Position Title:Excavator Operator

Location: Pinellas Park, FL- 20 min from Tampa. Monday through Friday at least 40hrs per week. Crews will travel within Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.

Summary of Job:

The incumbent receives written or oral instructions from supervisor regarding material to move or excavate. Operates machine, on tracks or rubber tires, equipped with movable bucket to excavate or move dirt, rock, sand and other materials or other attachments to handle pipes, fittings, structures etc.

Duties Include:

• The equipment operator will have extensive experience and skills in heavy equipment operations involving mass excavations, backfilling and compacting, working with trench boxes, and pipe laying.
• Can operate around underground utility lines and in close proximity to the crew.
• Works with and assists the pipe crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a backhoe, grater or front-end loader.
• May be required to occasionally assist others doing normal laborer tasks.
• Follow all health and safety regulations when working and/or operating equipment.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment, specifically a track hoe or excavator.
• Ability to safely perform physical duties associated with operation of heavy equipment including but not limited to bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, climbing into and out of, and around heavy equipment.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to work effectively as a team.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (preferred).
