Knowledge/Skills/Ability
Thorough knowledge of cost control systems and accounts required. Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts. Ability to read and comprehend research data; read and interpret plans, specifications and addenda, perform quantity survey off blueprints, and discuss each with co-workers, architects and engineers as concerning vague and/or conflicting requirements. Ability to measure and tabulate linear, area and volume surveys of plan documents. Ability to calculate quantities, price and extend unit surveys. Working knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control methods. Working knowledge and skill in use of personal computer, estimating hardware and software, and spreadsheet software, to enter data and generate concise reports for management purposes. Ability to effectively and persuasively communicate both written and orally as in client contact and follow-up using telephone and correspondence.

• AA degree and 5 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Expert in MS Office Applications: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
• Organizational skills (notes, files, documents, etc.)
• Proficient in Technical Writing/Correspondence
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimum guidance

Job Duties

• Actively pursue future customers/additional work and follow up on potential leads
• Thoroughly read plans and specifications and review for accurate scope of work and means & methods assessment.
• Review work requirements with local operations management
• Research and define cost elements related to project construction including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
• Identify risks and develop project contingencies
• Prepare a written proposal outlining clarifications, exceptions, and assumptions presenting the final draft to upper management for final determination and risk assessment
• Submit the approved final bid to the customer by the stated due date
• Maintain open lines of communication with existing customers
• Attain a thorough understanding of the scope of work including desired construction methods, project timelines, and customer expectations
• Ask project-related questions and record customer response
• Visit the job location to assess site conditions and assess constructability
• Provide job-related documentation to field operations, project management staff, and back office/administrative staff as needed
• Assist field personnel in developing and/or recommending change orders as needed
• Negotiate positive resolutions with the customer on any disputes that may arise
• Maintain files as a backup for estimated figures
• All other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
