Job Summary

 

The EVP, Venture Banking will manage all commercial banking activities in a specified region or group. They will assure the hiring and training of staff to deliver on the budgeted financial results for deposits, loan commitments/outstandings and cross sales of related products and services, all while ensuring strong credit quality. The head of this region will also be visible in the market and help to generate leads by calling on venture capital firms, venture backed technology and life science companies, and other key contacts within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.


  • Lead a team or teams of senior level originators and/or staff to appropriately grow on balance sheet deposits, loan commitments, loan outstandings, and non-interest income, all while effectively managing the credit risk of both new and recently boarded credits
  • Assist originators in identifying deals to pursue versus deals to pass on, as well as reviewing and approving EOI’s, or determining which EOI’s need to go to credit committee
  • Read, approve, and fully support every deal that goes to committee for your area of responsibility; have the ability to push back on deal terms when necessary
  • Act as the senior most business development person for the product/group/region
  • Coordinate originations activities and relationships amongst originators, referrals, offsites and related activities.
  • Involved with interviewing and hiring decisions
  • Prepare and deliver employee performance evaluations, goal planning, and counseling
  • Manage, support, coach and train staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • 10-12 years of venture technology or life sciences banking and/or financial services experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Creative and strategic thinker with excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism and a positive attitude under pressure
  • Strong management and demonstrated leadership skills

  • Proven success in managing large client accounts or other related client facing activity
  • Review and be knowledgeable of departmental and human resource’s policies & procedures
  • Role requires sitting or standing in front of a computer monitor for prolonged periods of time in a fixed neck position.
  • Constant use of a computer or other office equipment resulting in repeating motions of the hands and wrists.
  • Light work that may include moving objects up to 20 pounds

 

Salary Range: $251,846.40 - 335,799.36; Final salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with geographic/market data.
