Position Summary

NMPBS is seeking an innovative leader and collaborator to assist in the design and implementation of community engagement activities. Priorities include centering New Mexico’s diverse communities, training and resource support for educators and partner organizations, and connecting PBS content in relevant and meaningful ways to our stakeholders. This individual will nurture new and existing relationships with community-based organizations and institutions and design events that contribute to the betterment of local communities with a focus on social justice, equity, and civic participation.

Establish and maintain trusting relationships with diverse communities, including rural tribal communities. Represent Education and Outreach Department on committees as assigned. Create, produce, and deliver a range of educational, informational, and culturally relevant presentations/events or resources. Work with local, regional, and national documentary filmmakers to assist them in using their films to engage New Mexico communities. Investigate and create reports on community priorities. Compile, write, and edit NMPBS community engagement website content and specialized newsletters in collaboration with NMPBS digital media team. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with PBS.
  • Experience organizing and promoting public events.
  • Experience in designing and implementing a strategic plan.
  • Comfortable speaking in public.
  • Knowledge of K-12 educational standards and practices
  • Social media experience.
  • Basic media production and/or editing experience.
  • Multi-lingual skills in Spanish and English.
