Job Summary:
Events & Parks Attendant position involves ensuring the smooth operation of events and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of parks to provide a positive experience for Owasso citizens and visitors. Responsibilities include setting up and tearing down equipment for events, assisting event organizers and attendees, monitoring park facilities, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring park rules and regulations are followed. As the events on-site liaison, the role requires the individual to take charge and exhibit leadership qualities when necessary to drive initiatives forward, a proactive attitude, assertiveness, the ability to make informed decisions independently, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Work is performed under the general direction of the Recreation and Culture & Parks Staff, while reporting to the Recreation and Culture Administrative Manager.

Salary, Benefits, and Work Schedule*
Salary:
$13.00 per hour; does not include benefits
Schedule:

  • Seasonal position from March through October
  • Average 20 hours/week
  • Hours may vary but are mostly scheduled in advance with occasional on-call
  • Generally, Monday – Friday, Saturday and Sunday as needed (City events, programming, and Redbud Festival Park rentals)

Essential Functions*
Essential Functions:

  • Assists in organizing and working on new and existing recreational programs for the community
  • Works City events and functions as on-site staff contact to accommodate programming and rental needs
  • Acts as on-site liaison to assist participants, spectators, and program vendors, and to ensure that park rules and regulations are followed
  • Upholds any necessary safety precautions
  • Facilitates event set up and tear-down

o Set up sound, lighting, stage and other event equipment, inflatable screen, projector, and necessary stage equipment and chairs for events, and seating organization
o Tear-down and organized storing of equipment

  • Welcomes guests to the venue and provides high levels of customer service at all times
  • Checks equipment into an inventory system and inspects for potential damage
  • Performs duties related to the maintenance & cleanliness of Redbud Festival Park and pavilion, which may include but is not limited to sweeping, pulling weeds, picking up trash and debris, replenishing supplies in facilities, and all custodial needs while on-site
  • Carries out various tasks as requested by the Recreation & Culture and Parks Staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned in a positive manner which supports the vision and strategic objectives of the division/department and the entire organization of the City of Owasso

Position Requirements*
Minimum Qualifications and/or Experience*

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must work well with people of all ages
  • A positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and ability to positively assert the Park's rules and regulations as needed
  • High energy and stamina
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Excellent critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance
  • Ability to operate event technical equipment or willing to learn
  • Strong interest and/or training in Audio/Visual technology is a plus
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to efficiently multitask
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions*
Work will be performed at outdoor events that may include varying weather conditions and sounds.
Tasks require the ability to lift/push/pull/ and/or move supplies, materials, and equipment up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, with mechanical or manual assistance, and typically involve some combination of walking, sitting, or standing for extended periods of time, walking, balancing, climbing, bending, crawling, stooping, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, and mental and visual acuity.
