Position Summary
- The Office of Student Life enhances the mission of OSU-Cascades by providing services, resources, activities, and involvement opportunities to support the co-curricular experience of our students. We strive to connect students to the campus community, create opportunities to expand leadership skills, and inspire students to be life-long learners.
- The Events Council is made up of a group of students who plan campus-wide events. We facilitate spaces for memory-making and supplement students' educational lives here at OSU-Cascades. Programming Coordinators are responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing various small- and large-scale events throughout the year, with the Equity and Belonging Programming Coordinator focused on planning events around equity and inclusion in partnership with their supervisor.
- This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time Belonging and Equity Programming Coordinator position for the academic year.
- This position will work 15 hours per week at $16.50/hour starting with training Tuesday, September 5th through Friday, September 22nd. Hours during the year include Week 1-10 during Fall and Winter term and Week 1-Finals Spring term. Lead Programming Coordinator has an option to do 7.5 hours a week over the summer. This position is located in Bend, Oregon.
Position Duties
- Event Planning and Support (60%)
- Assist in developing a detailed Event Plan for each assigned event, inclusive of planning timeline, event timeline, estimated budget, and promotional plan
- Assist with the assessment, evaluation, and wrap-up of Events Council events, including event reports and recommendations for the future
- Work with OSU-Cascades professional staff, community members, outside vendors as needed for events
- Administrative Responsibilities (25%)
- Assist in setting and accomplishing goals for Events Council
- Maintain regular office hours to assist in the facilitation of day-to-day tasks and to facilitate general office duties like answering phone calls or emails
- Attend Events Council staff meetings and engage in ongoing training, professional development, and community building
- Support the development and maintenance of educational tools, trainings and tutorials
- Assist in the attendance and/or ticketing process for events, including sales, deposits, and tracking payments
- Complete other administrative tasks as needed
- Other Position Responsibilities (15%)
- May be asked to serve on a committee or work group within the Office of Student Life or Student Affairs
- Work to learn, enhance, and promote diversity and social justice
- Represent Events Council and the Office of Student Life to the OSU-Cascades and Central Oregon community
- Engage in ongoing professional development and community building
- Duties Breakdown
- Five hours will be for Office Hours
- Five hours will be for either Events or event prep/follow-up (switches approximately every other week)
- Three hours will be for planning events (outside of designated Office Hours)
- Thirty minutes will be for weekly individual check-ins
- One hour will be for weekly Events Council meetings
- Important Dates
- Interviews will begin shortly after applications are received to fill positions before training.
- Tuesday, September 5th to Friday, September 22nd: Events Council begins student training (6 hours a day)
- Sunday, September 24th to Tuesday, September 26th: Cascades Welcome Orientation Event Support (HOLD full day, working 8 hours per day)
- Friday, September 29th: Bruckner Bash and Tailgate (5 hours in the evening)

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

- Experience working collaboratively as a part of a team
- Ability to organize work, manage time, and follow through on tasks in a self-directed environment
- Desire or interest in working with a variety of organizations and people from diverse cultures, communication styles, histories, and team structures
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal and written
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
- Previous experience working for any of the units in Student Life
- Experience engaging traditionally underrepresented social identities (I.e. Race, Gender, Gender Identity, or Ability)
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of or experience with project management
- Experience in leadership activities, student organizations, community service, and/or outreach activities
- Previous experience working on a committee
- Experience working with various tools within CampusGroups and Microsoft Office365
- Eligible to return as an OSU-Cascades student for the 2024-2025 (Junior standing or below)
- In good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of employment
- Maintain at least a cumulative GPA of 2.0 (undergraduates) or 3.0 (graduates) and be in good academic standing
