Job Description
Sozo Children has an immediate opening for an Events Coordinator. As the Events Coordinator for Sozo Children, you will impact the lives of our supporters, our staff members and the children we serve by developing and organizing events to reflect positively upon our brand and our mission. Together, we will create a ripple effect touching the lives of countless others. The Events Coordinator will be the driving force for our annual events and work closely with the whole Sozo team to inspire our event sponsors and attendees to join in God’s work through Sozo Children.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the Sozo leadership, the engagement team, and our board of directors to be the primary point person for all fundraising events, with a constant enthusiasm for new opportunities to acquire friends and supporters while demonstrating attention to detail that makes Sozo events excellent and effective.
- Serve as the primary contact for event venues, vendors, guest speakers and donors ensuring excellent communication and follow-up both pre and post-event.
- Work with the engagement team to recruit and manage volunteers for events.
- Work with the Sozo team to communicate a purpose, establish goals and set expectations for each event, develop plans to meet or exceed those goals and create reports for the board and media team to clearly communicate results for each event.
- Initiate a debrief within 48 hours of each event to identify the wins, opportunities for further engagement and future improvement.
- Establish and manage a budget for each event designed to provide a high-quality experience for supporters, corporate partners and guests with an ROI that supports the intended outcome.

You have the ability to network with strangers and enjoy the art of making connections. You are confident in a social setting and you can work a crowd. You understand people from a wide variety of backgrounds and you’re intuitive about making everyone feel welcome. You don’t have to be the center of attention but you know how to direct attention where it is needed to communicate the vision of the organization.

You enjoy the experience of your work but you love a finished project even more. You’re eager to start the process again and evaluate every detail to see how it can be even better the next time and you are open to new ideas. No question is too big or too small if it helps someone at our event grow spiritually and learn about our mission. If you don’t know the answer, you find it for them.

You’re not a superhero but you have strength about you that helps everyone around you cope with a busy day. Events can be hard work but you are cheerful and positive—sharing your enthusiasm with others.
MUST HAVES:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Five years of experience planning successful events.
- Christ-like approach to life in actions, words and attitudes.

This position will be stationed out of our headquarter office in Birmingham, AL
