Responsibilities

Manage operations of Student Union, Student Services Building, and the Askew Student Life Center including opening, closing, and securing the facilities.
Complete hourly rounds of assigned areas, checking for any safety/security concerns and furniture or equipment that needs to be put away.
Assist in recording and managing facilities and maintenance concerns by adding detailed information to the daily Manager report for each shift.
Manage and complete all necessary room set-ups for meetings and events.
Follow Room Opening/Closing Procedures to ensure that:
Rooms are locked and unlocked as scheduled.
All requested audiovisual equipment is set and functioning properly for guests.
Room is clean and ready as requested by group.
Understand and uphold all Student Union policies.
Supervise other Campus Event Services student staff members when on duty.
Provide quality customer service to all guests entering the building including faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
Meet with event guests to ensure completion and satisfaction with the reservation process and room set-up.
Address any concerns regarding room set-ups, additional customer needs, or late reservation changes.
Assist information desk attendants with management of lost and found.
Respond in emergency situations to keep staff and guests of the Union safe.
Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions including a bi-weekly staff meeting.
Assist Campus Event Services full-time staff in student staff training and development.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
• Full-time student in good academic standing at Florida State University with at least a 2.5 GPA.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and meet the physical demands of the job.
• Must be willing and able to work in a team and be adaptable to rapidly changing situations and new information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in hospitality management, customer service, facility & event management
• At least 1 year of prior employment with audiovisual services with excellent working knowledge of audiovisual equipment including the use and maintenance of sound boards, laptops, data projectors, Apple products (complementary adapters), and lighting controls.
• Ability to identify and properly use any necessary audiovisual cords and accessories including microphone XLR, VGA, HDMI, 1/8” and 1/4” auxiliary cords, unique Mac connectors, etc.

This is a leadership position with a high degree of responsibility in facility and event management on the evenings and weekends. The role of the Event Support Manager is to meet the needs of Student Union guests by providing support for their events. Event Support Managers are also responsible for supervising and assisting other student staff positions in Campus Event Services, understanding, and following emergency procedures, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of Union spaces.

Anticipated Salary Range

Hourly rate for this position is $13.00.

Considerations

This is an OPS/temporary job.

Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check.

This position reports to the Campus Event Services Operations Manager.

Available and willing to work evenings, weekends, and during semester breaks.

Must be willing and able to also work morning shifts (as early as 6am), and evening shifts (as late as 2am), when needed. Punctuality is necessary.
