Job description
A cleaning supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of cleaning and maintenance staff to ensure the cleanliness, hygiene, and orderliness of a facility. They oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the premises, equipment, and supplies.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision:
- Oversee, train, and direct cleaning staff to ensure they perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
- Schedule and assign cleaning tasks to staff and monitor their work.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees.
Cleaning Operations:
- Inspect and evaluate the cleanliness of various areas, such as offices, restrooms, and common spaces.
- Ensure that cleaning procedures are followed, including the use of appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Address and resolve any cleaning issues or concerns promptly.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Order and replenish cleaning materials as needed.
- Ensure that supplies are stored and used safely.
Quality Control:
- Maintain high cleaning standards and ensure that the facility meets hygiene and safety requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify areas that need special attention or additional cleaning.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Enforce safety policies and procedures among cleaning staff.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards, and take corrective actions as necessary.
Documentation:
- Maintain records of cleaning schedules, staff attendance, and performance.
- Prepare reports for management as needed.
Customer Relations:
- Interact with clients or building occupants to address their cleaning-related concerns or special requests.
- Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require a relevant certification).
- Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial work.
- Proven supervisory or leadership experience.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
