Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Event and Banquet Supervisor to oversee our event and banquet services. The Event and Banquet Supervisor will be responsible for booking sales, planning, organizing, and executing events of all sizes, from small business meetings to large weddings and conferences. The ideal candidate should have experience in the hospitality industry, with a focus on customer service, event planning, and team management.
Scope
This is a department service line leadership role. This individual will provide leadership, operational oversight and advise, inform and implement strategic direction for matters pertinent to the Retail Service line. These individuals report to the Culinary Manager.
Job Essentials
  • Overarching duties include logistical planning and execution of events, strategic planning, market research and analysis, budget projection and tracking, and problem solving.
  • Facilitates all human resource functions including hiring, staffing, mentoring, evaluating, conflict resolution, constructive discipline and termination.
  • Assists in budget planning, forecasting, and measuring productivity while maintaining a viable financial status.
  • Provides value-based leadership to establish high functioning teams and operations in an accountable environment.
  • Responsible for implementing best practice, system-level initiatives.
  • This position works closely with the Culinary Services department for planning and execution catering requests and reports to the Nutrition Services Manager.
  • Recruit businesses and maximize the profitable usage of the conference center.
  • Directly responsible for the planning, preparation, set-up, service, break-down and cleanup of events
  • Develops programs, communications, presentations, and proposals for perspective clients. Meets with clients and perspective clients to present event center information.
  • Coordinates tours and onsite visits that includes all necessary subject matter experts.
  • Ensure high quality service by communicating and assisting others to understand the guest needs, providing direction and guidance, feedback and individual coaching when needed.
  • Attends events and provides on-site support, as needed.
  • Knowledge of food & beverage service, seating, and table arrangements, lighting and basic audio/visual equipment

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current food handlers permit
  • Serve Safe certification within 90 days of hire
  • Three years of experience in food service management
  • Demonstrated effective business skills in culinary industry
  • Experience managing food production
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in using word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, internet, social media, email and scheduling applications as well as computerized tracking systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement initiatives

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics or a culinary degree from an accredited. Education is verified.
  • High volume food production background, contract management experience, merchandising and marketing in a retail food service setting.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)
  • Certified Professional in Catering and Events (CPCE)
  • Budget Management experience

Interact with patients and co-workers requiring the employee to verbally communicate information, as well as understand spoken information.

Carry, push/pull, and walk while transporting food, supplies, and service equipment.

Climb, squat, kneel, and lift to clean equipment and reach and retrieve food and supplies.

Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.

Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work at a grill or in a refrigerator.
