SalaryDakota Carrier Network (DCN), a provider of high-speed broadband communication services, serving North Dakota customers with locations within the state has an opening at our Bismarck or Fargo office, North Dakota for an Ethernet/IP Technician II.
JOB SUMMARY: A rewarding and challenging opportunity to work in a Network Operations Center (NOC) supporting DCN’s high quality, state of the art Carrier Ethernet and IP networks. DCN is looking for a career- minded, highly motivated individual to add to our team of technicians.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work in the DCN NOC. This would include network monitoring, network provisioning, trouble analysis, receiving and resolving trouble reports, and administration of equipment.
- Provision and troubleshoot Carrier Ethernet and IP services and equipment.
- Provision and troubleshoot DNS and Managed Firewall services and equipment.
- Assist customers with initial service activation.
- Interface with local and national telecommunications providers for the operation, administration, maintenance, and provisioning of multiple types of services.
- Assure the highest quality network service is provided to the customer.
- Some travel may be required for work and training.
- Will work in an on-call role on a rotating basis with other NOC technicians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with router and switch configurations.
- Skill in analytical thinking and problem solving.
- Skill in reading and interpreting technical documents and information.
- Ability to evaluate, test, and repair Carrier Ethernet and IP services and equipment.
- Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with customers and employees in a professional manner.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- 3-5 years’ experience working in Carrier Ethernet and IP services.
