Estimator For Commercial Concrete Construction Company

ESTIMATOR: Commercial Concrete Contractor

Metroplex Concrete is a privately held company that was established in 1990. We are a full-service concrete subcontractor with projects typically ranging from $500k to $5m. Metroplex is currently seeking an experienced Estimator to join our commercial projects team in a full-time, salaried position working out of our Keller, TX office. Estimators are responsible for providing accurate and detailed project cost estimates and proposals for our customers and assisting with the business development of the company.

  • Foundations: drilled piers, formed grade beams, various footings, waffle slabs
    • Conventional Rebar/Post Tension
  • Tilt-Wall construction
  • Podium decks
• Structural walls with various footing types
• Flatwork:
  • Hand-placed paving
  • Sidewalks

Key Responsibilities:

• Review Request For Proposals (RFP)/Invitation To Bid (ITB) to evaluate compatibility with company’s abilities and business model pursuits.
• Assemble and organize the required documents to discern the project requirements, identify all of the concrete scope tasks, requesting additional information if needed.
• Perform quantity calculations with electronic software. Perform quantity take-off tasks and apply appropriate dimensional computations for pricing quantities.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for the project scope and quantities, securing vendor quotes, evaluating labor requirements, and consider field methodology to be implemented.
• Prepare a formal detailed presentation for the customer and communicate the company’s qualifications, experiences, and references to gain the customer’s confidence.
• Customer follow-up, responding to scope questions and revising estimates as needed in the scope identification process.
• If successful in securing a project, evaluating customer’s contract scope to verify, clarify, or revise to reach mutually agreed scope of work.
• Communicating the project scope and cost estimate to company’s Field Operations team.
• Assist with project Change Orders.
• Assist with solicitation of General Contractors and Project Owners opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers.

Desired Skills and Experience

· Must have a demonstrated experience as an Estimator/PM for a concrete subcontractor

• Must have the ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents including drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and the project schedule.

· Must have a demonstrated ability to study the documents and thoroughly understand a project’s design and required construction methodology, specific towards the various concrete scopes.

· Must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office software, Bluebeam, Planswift/OST.

· Must have excellent team-building skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Must have strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail oriented.

• Demonstrate knowledge of construction standards/specifications, concrete mix designs, reinforcing shop drawings (conventional rebar or post tension), finish applications, etc.
• Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
