Job Title
(Essential) Assistant Manager - Belmont SAP
Job Description
This position plans, implements and evaluates individualized social and living skills development programs for residents who have intellectual disabilities who live in the community in a residential program, with family, in a supervised apartment setting, etc. Incumbent performs supportive level counseling and training functions. Position provides back-up support to other residential programs. Completes other duties as assigned by the group home manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assesses resident needs and plans. Develops implements and/or updates individualized resident programs.
2. Provides instruction and training in social living skills.
3. Provides supportive counseling.
4. Links resident with appropriate services and assists them in scheduling and keeping appointments.
5. Transports residents, if necessary
6. Conducts group meetings with residents. Supervises the self-administration, or administers medication, and prepares and maintains related records.
7. Records relevant progress notes.
8. Completes and maintains required charts, forms and reports.
9. Assists residents with personal financial transactions and record keeping.
10. Plans facility menus and shops for groceries.
11. Coordinates social and recreational programs and activities.
12. Assists in the development and monitoring of Individual Service Plans, implements specified services, prepares quarterly updates related to the ISPs.
13. Provides overnight supervision to residents; responding to needs as necessary.
14. Conducts fire drills, inspects smoke detectors and fire extinguishers according to policy, and maintains appropriate records.
15. Communicates with family members, and other appropriate persons.
16. Assists in the upkeep of the house, grounds and vehicles.
17. Provides First Aid and CPR as needed.

Required Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of instruction for intellectually disabled persons. Good knowledge of effective supportive counseling practices and techniques. Good knowledge of behavior management practices and techniques applicable to persons who have intellectual disabilities and/or mental illness. Good knowledge of social casework practices. Good knowledge of common housekeeping practices. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, their families, other staff and significant others. Good physical condition to physically assist residents as necessary. Ability to prepare accurate resident records. Approved "Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP)". This means an individual possessing at least one year of documented work experience with individuals who have intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities and is one of the following: a doctor of medicine or osteopathy, a registered nurse, or holds at least a Bachelor's degree in human services field including, but not limited to sociology, social work, special education, rehabilitation counseling, and psychology. Valid VA Driver's License.

Physical Demands
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Work is performed in a well-maintained group facility or participant's home, the latter of which may have varying sanitary conditions. The incumbent may work directly with participants experiencing psychological or emotional disorders and who may become aggressive or abusive. Assisting participants who may be of limited mobility skills and the maintenance of the facility require lifting and overall good physical condition. The incumbent is occasionally interrupted by work-related calls during off hours. Assistance in residential programs may require the incumbent to work in homes with varying degrees of accessibility. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Significant walking, moving, carrying, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and handling, sitting, standing, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift or support individuals weighing in excess of 180 lbs. Ability to use THEROPS style restraint as needed. Ability to operate handicap van with chair lift. Ability to transfer individual from wheelchair to bed/toilet/chair. Ability to intervene with aggressive individuals.

$49,286 annually
