SALARY: $15.00 - $23.00 Hourly
CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks is seeking an Esports Lab Attendant to provide support in managing and maintaining the agency's esports facilities and systems. The Esports Lab Attendant will work primarily during weekends and evenings, ensuring the smooth operation of the Esports Lab and providing technical assistance to users. This is a temporary position with a maximum duration of two years.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervise and maintain the Esports Lab during operating hours, including setup and teardown of gaming equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance to users regarding hardware, software, and network configurations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to gaming peripherals, network connectivity, and software installations.
  • Assist in the organization and execution of esports events and tournaments.
  • Monitor and enforce lab rules and regulations to ensure a safe and inclusive gaming environment.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement system updates and improvements.
  • Maintain inventory records of gaming equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and workshops for lab users.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED Certificate and enrolled/completion of Esports, Gaming, or Software Engineering certification program.
EXPERIENCE: Have one year of experience in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer-based game systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware, gaming peripherals, and networking concepts.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues related to gaming equipment and software.
  • Knowledge of popular gaming platforms, including PC, console, and mobile devices.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with users of all skill levels.
  • Familiarity with esports industry trends and best practices.
  • Basic understanding of event planning and coordination.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
NOTE: Those eligible candidates who are under final consideration for appointment to this position will be required to submit to drug and alcohol testing and criminal background check.
